Workgroups

Interested in getting involved in the Community Active Living Coalition? Join one of our several workgroups and help our initiatives for outreach, engagement, and systems changes for active transportation in Denver. Each workgroup meets every 2-3 months between our quarterly Coalition meetings.

Workgroups include:

  • RTD & Transit Workgroup: This group promotes transit in Denver, collaborate with decision-makers to make transit easier to use and more equitable, and build awareness about the connections between land use, transit, and health equity.

  • Biking Workgroup: This group works on projects to educate and encourage Denverites to bike as a means of transportation and exercise, increase awareness and knowledge about bike infrastructure and safety, and collaborate with decision makers to make biking in Denver more accessible and equitable.

  • Recruitment Workgroup: This group creates and implements fun and innovative messaging about the CALC with a focus on increasing membership diversity to promote equity in the Coalition as well as neighborhood and city planning efforts.

  • PHD Youth Team: This is our youth coalition for ages up to 25. These youth promote healthy lifestyles and create young leaders and advocates for social justice and health equity in Denver. Monthly meetings on the last Saturday of the month.

In addition to our Coalition workgroups, we also partner with local neighborhood active living coalitions on goals related to active living.

  • West Colfax Active Living Coalition: This Coalition is working on the "Over the Colfax Clover" project, which will bring together community members, local technical experts, and jurisdictional stakeholders to develop short- and long-term solutions for redesigning the cloverleaf intersection of Colfax and Federal to be safer and easier to navigate for all users, particularly pedestrians and bicyclists. More info on their website.

  • Athmar Park Active Living Coalition: The Athmar Park Active Living Coalition, part of the Athmar Park Neighborhood Association, is a group of community members and partners committed to improving public health by promoting and improving the conditions for walking, biking and wheelchair-rolling.
